ORDER OF EVENTS
The twins serve as ushers at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and have presented themselves as Quinze candidates to our parish community and priests. Our Quinze festivities will begin with a commemoration of their presentation where the twins enter in white symbolizing youth. We will present them to you, our family and friends, and ask you to accept them, going forth, as young adults.
Following the Quinze Presentation, the twins host their first adult dinner. Let them thank you for your support at the Quinze and throughout their lives with a feast. Eat, drink, and be very merry!
A traditional Quinze wines and dines her guests with hopes of catching a well-connected spouse followed by a showcase of many talents. Trevor and I take a more modern approach and celebrate the twins’ fencing, competitive swimming, and piano presentation as simply a celebration. The girls will each play one composition they’ve worked over a year to master.
After talent comes dancing. We start with the more personal dances when the Quinze says farewell to her younger self in a mirror dance followed immediately by the first dance as a young adult with their parents. Then the Quinzes pay homage to their Afro-Portuguese roots with a traditional Danḉa Carimbó and Samba Brasileiros. We hope all this dancing makes you want to get up and move. We’re lucky to have a local legend, The Professor, spinning hits for us.
All that dancing requires a second round of good eats. The twins will host a snack round at about 9:30 followed by sweet treats to keep us fueled through the festivities. Traditionally the Quinze would send her suitors home with gifts to entice them into a match. We’ll pass on that and open the Quinze’s merch store at this time to give thanks to all those who have traveled to celebrate with us. Take home winter fleece blankets, hats, scarves, candles, bath bombs, and many more things to enjoy.
We will sing happy birthday at exactly 12:23am when the twins officially turn 15, followed by the last set of dances.

Dress Code
What to wear: Party-Chic meets Artsy Festive: Let’s start with what is not expected at a Festa de Quinze Anos: please do not wear all white (reserved for the Quinze candidates) or all black (symbolic of death and journey endings) to a Quinze.
Follow the link for party chic meets artsy festive, we suggest a comfortable, ready-to-party outfit! That means everything from your most colorful jumpsuit, cocktail dress, or semi-formal fit. Any length dress is welcome.
The twins suggest you find fun prints, vibrant colors, and/or interesting patterns to show your personal expression. Got a kilt you want to wear? Excellent! Is it hot pink? Even better! Should you wear a tie? If you want but that’s your call. However, absolutely wear a tie if it’s a belt or necklace. You get the vibe.
